Sustainable Table Fund

Mackay-Isaac-Whitsunday.

Grants of up to $10,000 are now available for local food system initiatives.

Hey Queensland, you’re one special state. Home to golden sands, lush forests and the world’s largest living organism. The only thing more impressive than your natural beauty is the amount of food you produce!

That’s why we’re thrilled to launch the Sustainable Table Fund in Mackay-Isaac-Whitsunday (MIW) for the very first time. With it, we’ll be bringing everything we’ve learned over the last decade about community-led food systems change, whilst coming all-ears. We recognise that there are unique challenges and opportunities in each region, so we look forward to delving a little deeper with you.

If you’ve been busily building local food system resilience, quietly transitioning to regenerative agriculture or if you believe that farms in this region are vital to reef restoration, we’d love to invest in your efforts.

Grants of up to $10,000 are now available for local food system initiatives based in MIW that fulfil at least one of our four Impact Areas.

Applications open Monday 19 April 2021 and close Friday 21 May 2021, 6pm.

PS: If your project overshoots the $10,000 funding cap we’d still love to hear from you. Big brave ideas excite us too.

Our work is underpinned by the Blueprint for Impact, an investment strategy commissioned in 2020 to support a transition to more regenerative agricultural systems across Australia.

Impact Areas.

These four Impact Areas are our way of prioritising food system change. Born of deep consultation with key local food stakeholders, they guide project selection, maintain diversity and focus our investment and attention. For your project to qualify for funding, it must fulfil one (or more) Impact Areas.

Farming for Regeneration

From on-farm tree planting to promote biodiversity, to large- scale transitions to regenerative agriculture, we’re supporting those who are building soil health and food security through restorative, regenerative practices.
.

Innovative
Enterprises

Reforming our food system ain’t easy. Access to land, water, training and the confidence to experiment are perennial challenges faced by food system innovators. We’re here to build capacity and offer funding so they can do their thing.

Nutritious & Local Food for All

Healthy and culturally appropriate food is the stuff of life — but not everyone has access to it. That’s why projects that bring fresh produce to the people, destigmatise food relief, increase food literacy and put dignity back on the table are so important.

Mobilised Communities

Galvanised communities can do
anything. From climate change workshops to advocating for change at a local policy level, we’re finding and exalting those grassroots initiatives that are drumming up serious community clout.
