We are thrilled to announce that we are a major financial and consultation partner in the Local Harvest Project, a new national initiative aiming to help people find local sources of food and grow their own.
Local Harvest features a national directory of farmers’ markets, food co-ops, community food swaps, box systems, community gardens, organic retailers, farm gates, free-range meat providers and more. By simply entering your postcode, Local Harvest connects you with sustainable food sources close to you.
The online resource also features DIY resources for growing, making, storing and preserving your own food as well as low-energy living.
Sustainable Table is supporting Local Harvest as the initiative helps us achieve our mission of helping to build a fairer food system for all. Local Harvest helps by allowing consumers to:
• support local farmers and producers
• lessen your reliance on the industrial food system
• reduce the transport distance and associated carbon costs of the food you buy
• purchase ethically-farmed meat and seafood.
